What does your job involve?
With VIPR continuing to grow at quite a pace, I have been brought in to ensure we, as a company, can capitalise on numerous opportunities with new and existing clients, as well as build on the sales practices at VIPR.
What’s your background – qualifications, previous experience?
After graduating from Durham University with a law degree, I ended up in sales by chance. I took a sales job at a large technology provider and after that I spent over five years selling catastrophe models to Lloyds and international insurers.
In search of a new challenge I left that role to pursue a different path. I set up my own sales consultancy focusing on helping tech startups sell more and worked for an insurtech consultancy.
I had been doing some consulting work for VIPR and became increasingly impressed by not only the people that I was working with, but also the direction it was heading in. It has a unique mix of compelling proposition, great people and an interesting and committed client base.
What do you hope to achieve at VIPR?
VIPR has created what I believe to be the most compelling value proposition for delegated underwriting in the market and I want to help Bob, Rick and the team to realise its true potential.
What you have been doing in your role so far?
So far I have been meeting new and existing clients, learning about our product offerings and developing our sales strategy.
How are you finding your new role?
We have so much going on that it is quite frantic, but it is a lot of fun.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? Hobbies etc.
I’m usually in the pub with friends or in the gym because I have been in the pub too much! When I can I like to travel to new places and I’m never happier than when I am in the mountains skiing.
If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?
Adventurous, fun and conscientious
What would people be surprised to know about you?
I once took part in a kickboxing fight that aired on Sky Sports 1.
Who is your idol?
Our Chief Technical Officer, Paul Templar!
